ÞAnne scripture scornede me & a skil tolde
And lakkede me in latyn & liȝt bi me sette
And seyde . Multi multa sciunt & seipsos nesciunt
Þoo wepte I for woo & wraþþe of hir speche
And in a wyndynge wraþþe wexe I a-slepe
Þat I was rauyschid riȝt þere & fortune me fette
And in-to þe loond of longyng alone sche me brouȝte
In a myrour þat hyȝte mydleerd sche made me beholde
And knowe þat þou coueytist & come þerto paraunter
Þanne hadde fortune folwynge hir two fayre damysellis
Concupiscencia carnis men calledenT þe elder mayde
And coueytise of yen called was þat oþer
Pride of parfiȝt lyuyng pursuede hem boþe
Concupiscencia carnis collede me aboute þe nekke
And seyde þou art ȝonge & ȝeep & hast ȝeris ynowe
